Pictures at Exhibition
Pictures at an Exhibition is a one-act dance production created in 2024, inspired by Mussorgsky’s iconic musical suite. Each movement brings to life a different picture—characters and scenes trapped within their frames, each with a unique story to tell. From the mysterious Gnome and the haunting beauty of The Old Castle, to the playful energy of Tuilleriesand Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks, the stage transforms with every piece. Audiences journey through the powerful Bydlo, the contrast of Samuel Goldenberg and Schmuyle, the lively Market Place, and the eerie Catacombs and Baba Yaga. In the grand finale, all the characters come to life together in a spectacular celebration before returning to their frames, leaving the audience with the lingering magic of a gallery come alive. Pictures at an Exhibition is a visual and emotional experience where dance and music merge into living art.
